Established in 2015, Idlewild Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity dedicated to providing care for a variety of animals, including wild, exotic, domestic, and farm animals and birds. Our mission involves rescuing, rehabilitating, releasing, and rehoming animals in need, as well as offering a safe haven for those requiring lifelong care. Additionally, we serve as a therapeutic and educational resource, working with individuals to promote health and wellbeing. Currently, we are supported by a dedicated team of over 50 volunteers, many of whom are neurodivergent.
However, our sanctuary faces a critical challenge. The lease on our current premises is set to expire in June 2026, and our landlord is unable to renew or extend it. This means we must urgently find alternative premises. We require approximately 12 acres of land with suitable buildings, or the space to construct them, at an estimated cost of £600,000.
To address this pressing need, Idlewild Animal Sanctuary (Property) Limited has been established as a means to raise the necessary funds. We are offering shares in the new property to individuals and businesses at £50 per share, with the goal of reaching our fundraising target. Idlewild Animal Sanctuary serves as a vital support system for individuals experiencing loneliness. As a registered charity, we heavily depend on the dedication of our volunteers each day. We take great pride in being a lifeline for members of the community, particularly those with autism, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, and other conditions that benefit from therapeutic interventions.
This Is Our Passion
Our organisation specialises in rescuing, rehoming, rehabilitating, and releasing a diverse array of animals. In 2023, we successfully rescued, released, and/or rehomed over 200 animals. We offer lifelong care for various animals and provide temporary sanctuary as part of our recovery and rehabilitation services for wildlife that are injured, abandoned, or struggling to survive. Our primary goal is to nurture and rehabilitate each animal, ultimately returning them to their natural habitat.
