FAQ

FAQ About re-homing

Adoption fees and home checks apply. Please read our Frequently asked questions regarding rehoming a kitten.

Will the kitten/cat be fleed and wormed?

All kittens will be microchipped, vaccinated and rehomed with a neutering voucher.

What is an adoption fee?

Idlewild Animal Sanctuary asks for an adoption fee of £60 on re-homing, we ask for a minimum donation towards the work of the Sanctuary; this will enable us to continue providing refuge for unwanted animals and help towards some of our costs.  (The cost of neutering, worming and fleeing accumulates to over £150, so we only ask for a contribution towards these costs).

What does a home-check involve?

Our priority for the animals we re-home is to ensure that they will be in the correct environment when they leave the Idlewild Animal Sanctuary.  You will be introduced to the cat or kitten and given time to spend with them.  Staff will discuss the animal’s temperament and any special requirements the animal needs. We will arrange for a member of staff to visit your property for a ‘pre-home check’ to see that the environment is suitable for the animal you want to rehome. We ask that all members of the household meet the animal prior to them coming to live with you.

If you are in rented accommodation we will require written permission from your landlord/housing association.

What happens after?

Once you have taken the kitten/cat home, we will always be available to offer support and advice and will help you in any way we can in getting them settled into their new environment.
